Offline app
An offline app would allow users to use the AOSR also when in locations with poor WiFi or mobile connection. Also, it would be cheaper for users with an expensive data plan.

Chris FreyNot everyone has permanent internet please make app on device as download. Best is to use upgrade via AppStore (Apple) from the previous version. Please have the approaches again. Maybe a link to your educational videos

The AO is the market leader in trauma solutions. You have the best surgeons in the world for advice. And it is for free.
I know that an app costs much more on developing costs than a web based search. It would be really great if it is a downloadable app stored on the device -

Manager AO SR AdminDear Chris, thank you very much for your feedback. Actually, one of the reasons for this major update (user interface, background IT solution, search) was to have the possibility of implementing an offline app and to be able to present more AO offerings. Over the next weeks, we will start the evaluation of such a project. Meanwhile, for the approaches, please try our new search. Just by using filters you can narrow it down to the approaches relevant to the anatomic region you are interested in.

Abdullah Al RafiTo me AO trauma reference app was like my guide supervisor teacher everything. Without this app I can't imagine my day to day orthopedic practices. Really facing difficulty after stopping the app. Please make it available again.

Manager AO SR AdminDear Abdullah, thank you for your feedback. All the content of the app is still available through your mobile browser on https://surgeryreference.aofoundation.org. It is just the user interface/layout that has changed. If you want to keep an "app icon" on your home screen, you can find a description of how to do this here: https://surgeryreference.aofoundation.org/further-reading/using-new-aosr-as-app. Best regards, Lars

D SmithMaybe I'm too old and can't accept change (early 30s, mind you), but I find the new layout does not use screen space well on a webpage. Any tips? I really liked the former version with respect to this issue. The old app certainly was easier to navigate on mobile.

You guys wouldn't be offended if I asked the folks over at Zimmer/Biomet or Stryker if they had an alternative in the pipeline would you;)? -

Manager AO SR AdminDear D, we did such a massive rebuild that there will inevitably be room for improvement. Regarding screen space - I completely agree. If we manage to fix the last bug in time, we'll launch a first step in improving this next week. Besides of this... as long as you become the best surgeon you can be :-)

LuisHi. May I suggest reconciling the simplicity of only coding a website, and not multiple APIs in multiple stores, with offline availability in the concept of a progressive web app? I think its something that both the devs and us medical personnel would greatly appreciate since it would be easier to maintain and we'd get a lightweight offline "app" which we've greatly longed for. Thanks for you work!

Manager AO SR AdminDear Luis, in a few weeks (trying to finish off the distal femur revision right now) we'll be setting up the RFP for our offline app. Your feedback will be on the table. I completely agree with your idea of simplicity. In our old set up we had to maintain and check five channels (full web, mobile web, iPhone app, Android app, iPad app)... it was a nightmare.

Dr Hariprasad SeenappaHi AO surgery reference is a guide for many surgeons who want to learn new techniques and is much user friendly in the free app form as still many have problems with internet. I would request please keep this as offline product and the previous app form is much better.

Manager AO SR AdminDear Dr Hariprasad, thank you very much for your feedback. An offline app will probably be our next large IT project in the AOSR. For the new user interface, the plan is to implement some tweaks early next year to improve,

Daniel Belo NunesMaking the app accessible offline would be a total game changer. I’m Brazilian and travel by bus constantly. Our roads don’t have good cellphone service coverage and it prevents me to access the app in my travels, during a time I’d like to spend studying for my next surgeries. Please make this change and your app will be close to perfection!
